
The famous man with many interests was born July 26, 1875. His twin brother, Harry died in infancy. His other brother, Bertram, died of typhoid fever in 1893. He was the only one left for his parents, Major Henry Hancock and Ida Haraszthy Hancock. This man's name was George Allan Hancock.

Hancock's first major project was the Hancock School of Aeronautics. Hancock established the school on October 21,1928. The 34 out of 49 students graduated on May 21, 1929. The school ran for many more years after that, training students for World War II and the Vietnam War.

On October 5, 1946 Hancock married a beautiful women named Marian. They only had one daughter named Rosemary. During this, Hancock started a new project. This project started with a melon. A man stopped Hancock's train to give Hancock a melon. They started talking about farming and Hancock decided to buy a chicken and egg farm. Hancock named the farm after his daughter, Rosemary. Rosemary Farms.

Hancock helped USC get started. He donated 173 acres to the now famous college. They have a library named after Hancock.
One of Hancock's last projects was the La Brea Tar Pits. Hancock donated the land and museum. He even donated remaints of dead animals to the museum that his father had collected. The La Brea Tar Pits are still open today and can be visited in Los Angeles.

Hancock died in 1965. He still remembered through out California with much respect. He will always be thought of as a kind and giving person. He was a beloved husband, father, banker, scientist, explorer, pilot, and friend.
